Scooter Insurance Information

It is important that you take insurance to cover your scooter. Insurance will also cover the cost of replacement or repair of your scooter if it's damaged which is important because if you have a loan you will still need to pay it off even if you cannot afford to repair the bike. Scooter insurance is designed to cover medical expenses for personal injury as well as for accident costs. Although scooter insurance may not be compulsary in your state, it is worth investing in.

Scooters and mopeds are cheaper to repair and replace and also statistically make up a smaller percentage of road traffic and have proportionately fewer accidents than cars or motorcyles.   In some states and countries you must undertake mandatory motorcyle driver training before a license will be issued.  It may seem a little heavy handed but it helps with the cost of your scooter insurance as insurance companies see this as providing a lower risk thus lowering premiums. If it is not compulsory to take a motorcycle rider course where you live it is worth speaking to a couple of insurers to see if there is a better price if have this training. As you investigate the cost and availability of scooter insurance there are fewer options available for motorcylce insurance than there are for vehicle insurance. Fewer choices means that most companies adhere to the same or similar policies in relation to the bike cover they offer riders. However, there can be some differences depending on your age and other factors such as your previous driving history. Remember when shopping for scooter insurance is ensure you're comparing apples with apples. In other words you should only compare insurance costs once you have determined what you will be covered for.
